The belt is an important component of the diesel generator system, which is connected to the crankshaft and matched with a certain transmission ratio to ensure accurate intake and exhaust times. The reason for using belts instead of gears for transmission is because belts have low noise, precise transmission, small self variation, and are easy to compensate for. Usually, there is no visible protection wrapped around it, so we need to regularly repair and maintain the belt of the diesel generator set.
The two ends of the engine are respectively called the flywheel end and the accessory end. The flywheel end of the diesel generator is connected to the gearbox, while the accessory end is used to mount the engine accessories. All accessories are placed on the engine accessory end and are connected to the crankshaft by one to two belts. And there will be a tensioner on the accessory belt to adjust the belt tension. If the tension is too loose, the belt will usually produce a sharp sound during operation. Therefore, when some cars start, there will be a sharp sound, which is caused by the belt.
