A common feature of diesel generator sets, regardless of size or function, is that they generate heat. Most diesel generator sets are equipped with multiple conductors. When current flows through them, all conductors generate heat. This heat can quickly accumulate in the system and must be properly removed to reduce the risk of damage. If heat is not properly removed from the system, the windings can quickly deteriorate. A variety of issues can arise, including clearance and balancing. Diesel generator sets can significantly reduce heat through various cooling systems.
 


Check the diesel engine coolant level daily before starting the diesel generator or shutting it down.
 
When the diesel generator is running, the coolant is hot and under high pressure, which can easily cause burns. When the diesel generator is stopped and the coolant temperature drops below 50°C, the coolant level can be checked or added.
 
Coolant contains alkaline preservatives; avoid contact with skin and eyes to prevent injury.
 
Before starting the diesel generator or after shutting it down, and when the coolant temperature drops below 50°C, slowly turn the pressure cap on the radiator or expansion tank to release pressure in the cooling system.
 
(2) Remove the pressure cap of the diesel generator set and check the coolant level from the filling port or liquid level inspection port. It should be within the upper and lower scale lines or meet the requirements of the equipment manufacturer.
 
If necessary, add coolant. Add it close to the scale line or meet the requirements of the generator manufacturer.
 
Note: When adding coolant, inject it slowly to avoid air blockage.
 
To check the amount of coolant, you can use these methods, such as removing the radiator cap to observe, checking the engine coolant channel, and observing the coolant chamber level.


 
How to check the coolant
 
1. Remove the radiator cap for observation. If you want to check whether your coolant is too low, you can directly remove the radiator cap. He can see whether the coolant level is at the top periphery of the radiator filling port. If the level is too low, he needs to add coolant in time.
 
2. Check the coolant channel. Carefully observe the radiator cap to see if there is more scale deposits or rust around the radiator filling port. If these problems occur, you need to remove the engine cover in time, thoroughly clean the coolant channel, and then replace the coolant in time.
 
3. Check the coolant tank level. This is a relatively simple and straightforward method. Turn off the engine, then open the hood and locate the coolant tank. Once the hood is open, you can check the coolant level in the tank. If it's between the upper and lower limits, the coolant level is ideal. If it's below the lower limit, the coolant level is low and you need to add more.
 
Coolant, also known as antifreeze coolant, has excellent antifreeze properties. In cold weather, using coolant can effectively prevent cracking and ice formation in the radiator or engine block. Coolant is suitable not only for winter but also for all seasons. It prevents corrosion, boiling, and scaling.
